The Vice President of Data Reporting & Financial Analytics will be responsible for gathering and tracking a myriad of data in order to disseminate the information via various distribution channels. The position is responsible for all aspects of reporting to a broad group of consultants and clients, industry publications, requests for proposals (RFPs), and databases. The type of information that is conveyed to these firms include Heitman updates, assets under management, performance returns on all products and financial reporting of specific client investments.
Based in the firm’s Chicago headquarters, the position will report to the Senior Vice President, Director of Client Service Operations within the firm’s Client Service & Marketing Department. The selected candidate will oversee a team of four junior-level team members and is responsible for day-to-day management, performance evaluations and career growth. This role relies on in-depth business knowledge and related investment products, as well as advanced skills in data manipulation to translate requirements into analysis and reporting. You will serve as a hub through which information is collated and disseminated. The ability to be self-directed, organized and results oriented will be critical to success. It is expected that the successful candidate will be a collaborative professional and possess a “can do” service orientation.
The responsibilities of a Vice President of Data Reporting & Financial Analytics, Client Service & Marketing include, but are not limited to:
Manage the Data & Financial Analytics Team to develop a high-performing function to meet the firm’s growing data reporting needs
Ensure strong process and data integrity across the business; serve as a final review with respect to data on client reporting and collateral
Track firm-wide information such as assets under management, clients gained and lost, transaction activity, and capital raised
Liaise with investment teams to leverage subject matter expertise when reviewing and analyzing financial data for use in client-consultant questionnaires, RFPs for prospective clients, and industry surveys
Oversee population and validation of databases for all Heitman products
Champion bespoke data requests from strategic partners with a goal of delivering timely and accurate responses
Identify and implement new processes aimed to create operational efficiency to disseminate information quickly to best serve clients
Lead collaboration with the Data Management team to help create client service outputs from the firm’s data platform to drive business intelligence
Actively partner with team members across the firm’s business units to expand knowledge, streamline reporting process, and contribute to the evolution of the reporting needs and requirements
Work closely with global sales team, providing data and analytical support
Manage the data updates in the firm’s content management system to ensure completeness and accuracy in marketing collateral
Research and analyze competitors and preferred benchmarks
Interface with Heitman compliance personnel in order to complete annual filings and assist on SEC audits and internal audits
Partner with Client Service & Marketing Team in enhancing RFPs and marketing collateral
We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:
Minimum 12-15 years of experience in Financial Analysis, Accounting or related field with at least 5 years within Real Estate
Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required
Experience with or knowledge of Real Estate or Equities market extremely valuable
Understanding of performance measurement methodologies and accounting principles for private and public real estate investments
Strong written and oral communication skills – clear and organized thinking, an engaging personal style
Strong interpersonal skills - high energy, creative, enthusiastic, results oriented, self-starter, motivated
Strong organization and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
A high level of analytical skills, detail oriented, eager to learn and to remain current with evolving investment rules and regulations
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with various groups including accounting, IT, public securities, and compliance
A self-starter with flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
Evidence of working closely with other teams to influence colleagues at all levels of the business
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
