Responsibilities


As a Managing Director of Capital Markets with Hines, you will be responsible for helping grow the Hines Investment Management platform through client acquisition and consultant management efforts regionally. This position requires a skilled, entrepreneurial capital markets professional that can work independently in a fast-paced environment while also collaborating internally with capital markets teammates and other Hines groups to achieve our fund-raising objectives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as Managing Director within the Capital markets Group focused on capital raising from institutional investors in Southern states (Virginia, down to Florida and over to Texas)

  • Cover institutional investors and consultants within the Southern territory including endowments, pension funds, foundations, insurance companies and unions.

  • Generate new relationships for Hines within the territory and raise capital from investors with a focus on the Hines global suite of discretionary funds which includes diversified, open-end core/core plus strategies and closed end value/opportunistic strategies in the U.S., Europe and Asia

  • Participate in relevant industry events and raise awareness of Hines at PREA, TexPERS, FPPTA, GAPPT, IREI (VIP) and RELPI among others

  • Collaborate with other Hines colleagues in capital markets, sales enablement, Fund Management, Investor Relations, Marketing, Portfolio Management and Hines regional offices to bring new LP’s into the Hines fold and manage relationships

  • Be a “Team lead” on discrete capital raising efforts and help organize the capital markets group around them

  • Lend expertise to the creation of marketing materials and various forms of client communications

  • Document activities through Salesforce (opportunity pipeline, call reports) and deliver insights from LP’s and consultants covered to the broader Hines organization


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred

  • Ten or more years of experience working in some combination of real estate, investment management, capital raising and client relationship management

  • Strong relationships with LP’s and consultants in the Southern U.S., particularly real estate focused professionals

  • Must have or work to obtain the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses upon joining the firm

  • Ability to interact as a peer with senior professionals internally in the investment space, to use their time wisely for marketing

  • End-to-end understanding of the capital raising process and how to build LP relationships

  • Knowledge of competitor landscape, how competitor funds are performing and their relative strengths and weaknesses

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while also being a good teammate and collaborator

  • Work indoors the majority of the time, spend a significant amount of time in a combination of Houston and/or NYC

  • Hines offers a flexible work arrangement that includes both time in an office setting and the ability to work remotely

  • Extensive travel will be required (external to meet with LP’s and internal to get familiar with our capabilities and build relationships within Hines)
